Overview of Title IX and the Sexual Harassment Policy

Columbia College is committed to providing a learning and working environment that promotes personal integrity, civility and mutual respect in an environment free of discrimination on the basis of sex.

In particular, Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972 prohibits Columbia College from discriminating on the basis of sex in educational programs and activities, including employment and admissions. Specifically, Title IX states that:

No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.

Columbia College is committed to addressing the issues of discrimination and sexual harassment in the educational and workplace landscape and will continue to modify policies, procedures and prevention efforts as needed.
