Applying for federal aid for college just got easier
Federal financial aid may be available to help pay for college. It includes need-based grants and low-interest loans, as well as Work-Study. Apply online through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Columbia College's school code is 002456.
You may apply for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as early as October 1 of the year before you plan to attend college. For those applying for the 2019-2020 academic year, the FAFSA will be available October 1, 2018.
You must meet eligibility guidelines in order to receive federal financial aid. Some students may be asked to further verify information on their FAFSA form.
Be sure to activate your CougarTrack account and monitor CougarMail on a regular basis. The Financial Aid Office will use your Columbia College e-mail address to update you about the status of your application, inform you about upcoming deadlines and more.
Applying for FAFSA in five steps
Step 1: Apply
Complete an application for admission to the college and submit it to the Admissions Office (applies to first-time students only).
Step 2: Accept student eConsent
In order to view your and manage your account information in an online format, you must provide eConsent.
Step 3: Complete your FAFSA
Fill out the FAFSA as soon as possible so you meet priority deadlines.
Step 4: Check CougarMail
Check your Columbia College e-mail for updates.
Step 5: Additional loan requirements
If you are taking out federal loans, you must also complete
