The Blue Print Design Agency

Hands-on design experience connecting students with real clients

The Blue Print is Columbia College’s student-run design agency. Graphic design students collaborate with campus partners and community clients to deliver professional-quality creative work while gaining real-world experience.

How It Works

1

Clients share project goals, audience and desired outcomes.

2

Students meet with clients, research project needs, brainstorm solutions and develop initial concepts.

3

Students turn ideas into drafts, incorporate client feedback and produce final products.

4

Completed work is delivered in the required formats.

What Our Students Are Saying

The Blue Print helps students build confidence and career readiness.

Establishing Columbia College’s very own design agency, The Blue Print, and working with clients has sharpened my design skills and provided me with exceptional real-world experience. Through The Blue Print, I have been exposed to a wide variety of project types, clientele, and demands. I’ve learned how to meet deadlines, professionally deliver designs, and communicate effectively with clients and a design team. Overall, The Blue Print has prepared me for the realities of the design world and has helped me gain confidence in my design skills moving forward.

What Our Clients Are Saying

The Blue Print gives community partners and clients fresh, creative ideas.

Engaging with The Blue Print was an exceptionally rewarding experience. Our company, VetMetrix, received a truly distinctive and effective logo that exceeded our expectations. The entire collaborative process was remarkably seamless and professional. The only genuine challenge we faced was an enviable one: selecting a single final design from the sheer volume of outstanding creative work the students produced. To the students: thank you for your hard work on this project; you all have a very bright future ahead!

Steven Hermann

VetMetrix, Fall 2025 Client

It was a lot of fun working with the Columbia College graphic design students from The Blue Print! Sharing our mission with students is always a special moment–the realities of homelessness are really tough, but the students embraced the topic with open hearts. Having them jump in to help with our fundraising campaign was incredibly helpful. They handled it like professionals, had fabulous ideas, took my feedback well, and delivered some great designs that embraced our already established fun aesthetic vibe.
