Healthcare management is a good choice for students interested in the business side of healthcare. The program examines the unique opportunities and challenges of managing effective healthcare systems.
Students gain an understanding of healthcare systems and operations, human resource management and the legal and ethical aspects of healthcare. Learn business basics alongside healthcare terminology and operations.
According to the NCES, “in 2016–17, the greatest numbers of degrees were conferred in the fields of business” . Your degree will be grounded in a liberal arts education, giving you advanced communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Please note: Healthcare management courses are available mostly in an online format.

Capstone Course for Healthcare Management Majors. Student will apply concepts learned throughout their program of study to case study scenarios. Prerequisites: MGMT 300 and MGMT 340.
An introduction to medical terminology with an emphasis on learning word roots, suffixes and prefixes as it pertains to the human body.
Survey of principles of management. Familiarity with the history and evolution of the field and with modern principles and their application.
Introduction to descriptive and inferential statistics. Topics include collection of data, numerical and graphical descriptive methods, linear correlation and regression, probability concepts and distributions, confidence intervals and hypothesis testing for means and proportions. Prerequisite: Grade of C or higher in MATH 104, or a score of 20 or higher on the math portion of the ACT or a score of 480 or higher on the math portion of the SAT or a passing score on the Columbia College math placement exam.
