Meet Dean April Murphy-Morgan
Dean Murphy-Morgan joined Columbia College in 2024 and moved into academic leadership, serving as Director of the Master of Social Work program and Chair of the Department of Social Work, Human Services, and Criminal Justice before becoming Dean of the School of Public Service.
Throughout her career, Dean Murphy-Morgan has focused on connecting classroom learning to the real world. As a social worker, educator, researcher, and practitioner, she brings those perspectives together in her leadership. She is committed to building a School of Public Service that is student-centered, innovative, collaborative, and responsive to the communities and professions its graduates will serve.
Dean Murphy-Morgan’s scholarship and professional work have focused on child welfare, leadership, social work education, equity, well-being, and the use of technology in education and practice. She has also remained connected to social work practice, helping keep her teaching and leadership grounded in the realities students will encounter after graduation.
