Work-Study earn money for college while in school

You can contribute to your educational expenses through student employment on campus or in a community service role. There are two employment programs: Federal Work-Study for those with financial need and the college work program, which does not require proof of financial need.

The Financial Aid Office awards Federal Work-Study to students who have a need determined by the results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). To be eligible, a student must be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident alien.

  • Acceptance of Federal Work-Study on My Awards does not guarantee that a student will be placed in a Federal Work-Study position.
  • Students must apply for available positions, which are limited.
  • Students must be enrolled and attending at least part time. Students who withdraw from all classes are no longer eligible for student employment.
  • A student must show evidence of academic progress and of the ability to maintain satisfactory standing in a course of study while employed.

Students are approved for up to 20 hours per week in a Work-Study position and earn at least the current federal minimum wage. Students are paid bi-weekly through a paper check or direct deposit.

College work program

International students not eligible for Federal Work-Study may apply for the college work program, an institutionally funded program.

  • Students must be enrolled and attending at least part-time. Students who withdraw from all classes are no longer eligible for student employment.
  • A student must show evidence of academic progress and of the ability to maintain satisfactory standing in a course of study while employed.
  • Student must be eligible to apply for a Social Security number.
  • On-campus positions only.

Students are approved for up to 15 hours per week in a Work-program position and earn at least the current federal minimum wage. Students are paid bi-weekly through a paper check or direct deposit.
