Colleges are notorious for adding extra fees in addition to tuition, making it difficult for students to gauge the true cost of their degree.

Columbia College is investing in your success by expanding the benefits of Truition® to Day program students, beginning in Fall 2021.

This initiative eliminates course fees and provides books at no cost.

No, tuition rates aren’t changing and full-time students enrolled at the Day program in Columbia, Missouri, will continue to benefit from the existing fixed-rate tuition plus these new Truition® benefits.

Providing books ensures you have access to the required reading material, to support your academic success.

You won’t have to spend time trying to find the least expensive book or worrying about whether you have the correct version.

It eliminates the worry of budgeting for expensive books. All students will be paying an affordable rate of tuition with books provided.

Yes, Nursing course fees and book costs are being eliminated. Personal nursing supplies and equipment are not included, and remain the student’s responsibility. Students who started pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree before the 2021-2022 school year, are still responsible for the remainder of their BSN program fee.

Areas that are not covered by Truition®, where charges still apply, include:

  • Student housing, dining and parking.
  • Personal equipment and supplies that may be needed for select courses, such as art, math, science and nursing courses.
  • Services from external partners such a health insurance, CLEP/DSST testing, transcripts, background checks, and external applications and certifications.
  • Chargeback for not returning physical Truition® textbook rentals.
  • Fines for residential housing damages, late payments, lost/stolen ID cards, and other similar fines.

Book formats vary by course, with some using eTexts and others using physical textbooks. Any physical textbooks provided by the College are rentals and must be returned in good condition to the on-campus bookstore at the end of the semester to avoid being charged.

Books will be distributed by the on-campus bookstore partner, Barnes & Noble College (BNC).

You must review and accept the books being provided as part of Truition by visiting the BNC bookstore portal. This can be done after registering for classes and about a month before the start of each academic session.

Any physical books will be prepared by BNC for pickup at the on-campus bookstore. You may optionally pay to have the books shipped to their off-campus residence. Any eText will be available through the student’s Online Course Access (D2L) in CougarTrack from an internet-connected device

Students taking online or Columbia College Global (at locations nationwide) courses, including those taken at the evening campus in Columbia, Missouri, will receive any physical books for those courses via the mail through an alternative provider – they will not be available for pickup from the on-campus bookstore.

eTexts still available via D2L, but slightly different interface and separate login for apps.

The Student Accessibility Resources office in cooperation with the Barnes & Noble College bookstore will provide book accommodations where needed.

Students have the option to opt out of books being provided for them. This will need to be done before you register for classes for the semester and will be for all future courses. Please speak with the Enrollment Service Center about this option.

Students may begin picking up their physical rentals at the on-campus bookstore, Barnes & Noble College (BNC), approximately two weeks before courses begin, after reviewing and approving their course materials in BNC’s portal. Additionally, students will have access to their eTexts through D2L one week before courses begin.
Students that register within one week of when courses begin or after they have begun, will need to wait between 24 to 48 hours to access their eTexts through D2L. While students will have access to their courses in D2L the same day, they will not be able to access their eTexts until 24 to 48 hours after enrolling.

Students in courses with physical materials, should visit the bookstore with proof of registration to obtain their course materials.
