Book formats vary by course, with some using eTexts and others using physical textbooks. Any physical textbooks provided by the College are rentals and must be returned in good condition to the on-campus bookstore at the end of the semester to avoid being charged.
Books will be distributed by the on-campus bookstore partner, Barnes & Noble College (BNC).
You must review and accept the books being provided as part of Truition by visiting the BNC bookstore portal. This can be done after registering for classes and about a month before the start of each academic session.
Any physical books will be prepared by BNC for pickup at the on-campus bookstore. You may optionally pay to have the books shipped to their off-campus residence. Any eText will be available through the student’s Online Course Access (D2L) in CougarTrack from an internet-connected device
eTexts are accessible from many internet-connected device like mobile phones and tablets. In addition, there are also a number of computer labs available on campus.
If you have financial aid available, you can contact the Enrollment Service Center to see if it can be used for technology needs.
Some publishers offer paper (loose-leaf) copies of eTexts, which can be purchased from the Barnes & Nobel College on campus bookstore, where available.
You will have an option to purchase your Truition® provided physical textbook rentals from BNC at the end of each semester.
Students taking online or Columbia College Global (at locations nationwide) courses, including those taken at the evening campus in Columbia, Missouri, will receive any physical books for those courses via the mail through an alternative provider – they will not be available for pickup from the on-campus bookstore.
eTexts still available via D2L, but slightly different interface and separate login for apps.
The Student Accessibility Resources office in cooperation with the Barnes & Noble College bookstore will provide book accommodations where needed.
Students have the option to opt out of books being provided for them. This will need to be done before you register for classes for the semester and will be for all future courses. Please speak with the Enrollment Service Center about this option.
