Employee Policy Introduction and Overview
Columbia College maintains various employee policies to familiarize employees with the College and its practices, processes, and procedures. College policies provide guidance and direction on topics in a number of different areas. Some policies are required by law and some are internal operational policies. The policies, whether presented in an online format, handbook, or other format are presented as a matter of information only and should not be interpreted as a contract between the College and any of its employees. While the College's policies apply to faculty, additional and separate faculty specific policies and handbooks may also apply to faculty.
No set of policies can anticipate every possible scenario, set of circumstances or question. The College is continually evaluating its policies and operations and the College reserves the right to amend, edit, revise, supplement, or rescind any policies from time to time as it deems appropriate, in its sole discretion. Employees are responsible for knowing and understanding Columbia College's rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and benefits and should review the same frequently and meet with their supervisor or the Human Resources Department if any questions arise.
Employees are expected to support and act in the best interest of the College and to assist other constituencies of the College to accomplish the institutional mission. Employees are also expected to participate in and cooperate with the College in the event of internal proceedings or other matters. The College reserves the right to take disciplinary action, including up to termination of employment, against any employee who fails to abide by the College's policies, rules, guidelines, and expectations.
