Columbia College will confer undergraduate and graduate degrees at the Fort Drum campus commencement ceremony on Friday, April 23. The ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. at the Fort Drum Commons, Fort Drum, N.Y.
Dr. Terry Smith, executive vice president and dean for academic affairs, will give the commencement address and confer the degrees.
"Graduation is the culmination of students' efforts to improve their lives through education," said Smith. "We are proud to honor their accomplishments."
Columbia College, a private, nonprofit institution, was founded in Missouri in 1851 as Christian Female College, the first women's college west of the Mississippi River to be chartered by a state legislature. The college changed its name to Columbia College in 1970 when it became coeducational.
Columbia College-Fort Drum was established in 2006 to serve military and working adults on Fort Drum and nearby Watertown, N.Y.
