Where do I start?

You have just been admitted—what should you do now? We encourage you to use the following checklist to help get you started. More information about each step can be found in the sections below:

  1. Submit your transcripts
  2. Set up your financial aid
  3. Contact an advisor
  4. Register for class

Step 1: Submit your transcripts

Degree-seeking students are required to have official transcripts sent from each school attended, regardless of coursework completion, as well as an official military transcript and official scores from GED, AP, CLEP, or DSST exams, if applicable. If you have not yet requested transcripts from all previous schools, please do so as soon as possible. Missing transcripts can impact financial aid and will delay your official transfer credit evaluation, increasing your chance of taking unnecessary classes. In addition, you will not be able to register for more than two sessions if you have missing transcripts.

You should request all of your transcripts be sent to:

Office of the Registrar
ATTN: Evaluations
1001 Rogers Street
Columbia, MO 65216

Step 2: Set up your financial aid

If you wish to apply for financial aid you should visit our financial aid website for information and complete the required steps as soon as possible. You can reach that office directly at 800-231-2391 ext. 7390 or ext. 7252 or by email at

If you are using VA or GI Bill funding you should visit our Veterans Service Center website for information or contact that office for assistance at or at 800-231-2391 ext. 7504.

Step 3: Contact an advisor

New degree-seeking students are required to have contact with an academic advisor before registering. This not only gives us an opportunity to talk with you about your program and the classes you will take your first session, but also gives you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have. Keep in mind that until official evaluation of your transcripts is complete we will only be able to give you general advice about your degree. Once you do receive your degree evaluation we will be more than happy to go over your specific requirements with you at that time.

You can schedule an appointment with your advisor using the Online Advisor Scheduler available through CougarTrack. You can also find your advisor’s information in CougarTrack under My Profile in CC Links. If your assigned advisor is unavailable and you need immediate assistance, you may always contact another advisor by email at or call (800) 231-2391, ext. 7246. Our office hours are Monday through Thursday 8am-7pm and Friday 8am-5pm Central Time.

You can contact an Academic Advisor by email at, or by phone at 800-231-2391 ext. 7246. Our office hours are Monday through Thursday 8am-7pm CST, and Friday 8am-5pm CST.

Step 4: Register for class

View the Online Campus academic calendar to find out when registration begins. On or after that date you can sign up for class.View more information on how to register.

It is preferable to have an official evaluation before registering for a class, but it is not a requirement for the Online Campus student. You may contact an online advisor for course suggestions, or you may choose a course or two that you know will be needed and will not be met with transfer credit.
