Recruit Columbia College talent using Handshake
Connect with Columbia College students/alumni on Handshake. Handshake is the online recruiting system for the Grossnickle Career Services Center. Handshake is a Web-based career services management system that is available to employers 24 hours a day, seven days a week at no charge.
Registering for a Handshake account gives your company the following options:
- Ability to create an employer profile
- Ability to post job and internship opportunities for Columbia College students/alumni
- Opportunity to view student/alumni resumes
- Ability to register for Career Services events, Career Fairs and Information Sessions

Increase employer visibility on campus by scheduling an on-campus information session or by hosting an information table in the student commons or dining hall.

Attend our Career Fair!
The Career Services Center coordinates a Spring Career Fair. Our career fair provides an excellent opportunity for employers to meet with students and alumni from Columbia College. This event is FREE for employers to attend. The career fair is scheduled on Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
The set of following policies applies to all of our on-and-off campus recruiting programs including but not limited to: Employer Coffee Chats, Employer Information Booths, On-Campus Interviews, Scheduled Employer Visits, Career Fairs and any other employer-themed events.
The Grossnickle Career Services Center continues to serve organizations employing part-time, full-time and internship positions.

The Grossnickle Career Services Center reserves the right to refuse service to any organization that has any unresolved investigation, complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau or Missouri Secretary of State, or for any egregious behavior as determined by the Director of Career Services.
JOB POSTING INFORMATION
Hiring for commission-based positions
The Grossnickle Career Services Center reserves the right to refuse any position sent or posted in our system by an employer/recruiter that is solely commission based. Our mission as a Center is to ensure quality jobs for our students including, but not limited to: salaried positions, hourly positions, internships, and jobs with full/partial benefits. The student is at their own liberty if they choose to accept a solely commission-based position. Other stipulations for refusal of a job posting could include:
- Employee bears financial responsibility for required supplies, equipment, or training
- Compensation is 100% commission
- Company practices door-to-door and/or aggressive sales model
- Employee promotes ownership opportunities for branch or franchise
- Company promotes multi-level marketing tactics
In accordance with Columbia College and the Division of Student Affairs, all sales and solicitation are prohibited on Columbia College property, including all college-owned, rented, or otherwise occupied (e.g. military) buildings and grounds. Types of solicitation include, but are not limited to:
- Buying back textbooks
- Selling merchandise
- Soliciting subscriptions or business services
In addition, the Grossnickle Career Services Center reserves the right not promote positions that call for students to act in roles such as:
- Campus brand ambassadors
- Campus managers/reps
- Campus marketing assistants
Approval for these roles will be solely based on the discretion of the Director of Career Services.
Our full range of services are open to employers who recruit candidates for salaried or hourly compensated positions on their own payrolls. Compensation details must clearly state if a position is 100% commission; includes a base salary (if partially commission-based); or be clear how the participant will be compensated in the job description or the position will not be posted. We will not post opportunities that are fee based. Internships must be clear if they are paid or unpaid. Every employer with wage-based positions should comply with minimum wage rates set forth by the United States Department of Labor’s Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Incomplete/false/unfounded employer information
In order to post a position within Grossnickle Career Services, companies must provide specific information about their organization, including ideally a valid website, a non-residential address, a commercial email address and a detailed organization description. Employers and recruiters unable to identify themselves as a legitimate organization/company may be rejected/deleted from the system.
