Columbia College's Online Campus awarded a $1,000 eScholarship to seven students for the 2010-2011 academic year. Recipients include: Tobias Adam, Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska; Kristin Bonino, Tampa, Fla.; Travis Gillium, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; Rebecca Grice, West Columbia, S.C.; Angela John, Camdenton, Mo.; Elizabeth Kavanaugh, Liverpool, N.Y.; and James O'Toole, Lawton, Okla.
"Our Online Campus is growing exponentially, and we wanted to recognize those students with a scholarship exclusively for them," said Michael Grissom, assistant dean for Adult Higher Education and Online Campus. "We are very proud of these recipients and hope to provide more scholarships geared specifically toward online students in the future."
The scholarship is non-renewable and applies to tuition, books and fees. To be eligible for the eScholarship, students must:
- Be an undergraduate, degree-seeking student
- Be an online student
- Have a minimum of 21 hours of online coursework with Columbia College and at least nine of those hours taken within the last academic year
- Have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 with Columbia College
- Complete a short essay
Columbia College's Online Campus offers associate, bachelor's and master's degrees with more than 800 online classes and 19 online degrees.
