Before you can be admitted to Columbia College, you must first authenticate your identity.

You can do this in one of two ways:

Option 1 - Authenticate in person

You can authenticate at your local Columbia College campus. You'll need to bring along a government-issued photo ID (such as a driver's license, passport, military ID, or permanent resident card.)

Option 2 - Authenticate online

If you don't have a campus nearby, you can authenticate online via ProctorU, an approved and secure partner of the college. There is no charge for this service. To complete the authentication process, you will need your student number and cougarmail address, plus a government-issued photo ID and access to a web cam.

  1. Access the ProctorU website. Note - due to recent compatibility issues encountered, it is recommended that you use Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox when accessing this website.
  2. Click on the "Authenticate" tab on the top right of the page
  3. Set up an account
  4. Schedule an authentication session date and time
  5. Allow 20-30 minutes to complete the process

This process can only be completed on desktop or laptop computers with internet access and a web cam. Tablets and smartphones cannot be utilized for authentication. Please note that completion of the authentication process does not guarantee admission to Columbia College. You must still meet all standard admission requirements.

If you have questions regarding the authentication requirement, please contact the Office of Admissions at or (800) 213-7352.
