Sarah Parris earned her Master of Arts in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing from Missouri State University in 2020. Before that, she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Stephens College in 2015.
Her areas of academic interest include genre fiction (with a particular focus on fantasy), narrative theory, and gender & queer studies. Her academic work examines the intersections of gender, sexuality, identity, and transgression in literature through a critical feminist lens.
Sarah’s creative work often focuses on the liminal, the strange, and the fantastic. Her work has appeared in 'Blood Tree Literature', 'Midwest Weird’, and 'Oracle Fine Arts Review'.
In addition to teaching, Sarah has also worked as a tutor in the Seabrook Writing Center since 2021.
In her free time, Sarah is an avid gamer and can often be found playing Dungeons & Dragons or replaying the Dragon Age saga. On weekends, she attends the Farmer’s Market with her wife, who owns and runs a home bakery.
