Dr. Ursprung Nerling eared her B.A in Art History from Truman State University. She proceeded to work on post-baccalaureate classes in Greek and Latin at MU before receiving her M.A in Visual Studies from the State University of New York at Buffalo, followed by her PhD in Art History and Archaeology from MU in 2021. She has taught classes at the University of Missouri, the Kentucky School of Art and Design, and SUNY at Buffalo. She joined the faculty of Columbia College in 2022, where she teaches the majority of Art history courses including Art Appreciation, Art History I and II, Baroque and Rococo Art, as well as others.
Dr. Ursprung Nerling regularly conducts research in Greece on identity, mortuary studies, and the reception of classical antiquity in the 18th and 19th century. She is currently working on two monographs, one on understanding the identity of communities as displayed in Bronze Age funerary containers, and the other focusing on a complete publication of the Pacheia Ammos Cemetery on East Crete.
