Four Columbia College online degrees dubbed best buys

Online education-rating service has certified four Columbia College online degrees as best buys: the college's online MBA and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice Administration, both ranked No. 5; a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, ranked No. 10; and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration No. 12.

The rankings are based on a review of hundreds of degrees, nearly 400 for the online MBA, from accredited distance-learning schools in the United States. The rankings factor in quality of instruction and affordability.

According to, the ranked online degrees from Columbia College cost less and sometimes significantly less than the national average. The average cost of an online bachelorís degree in business and management, according to the Web siteís latest survey, is $43,241. At about $25,200, Columbia College's degree costs nearly 50 percent less than average.

The college also ranked well above educational giants. Its online bachelor's degree in criminal justice administration, for instance, at No. 5, beat that of No. 7 Ohio University and No. 8 University of Maryland.

This isnít the first time Columbia College has topped and other educational consumer review services' lists for academic quality and exceptional value. U.S. News & World Report named Columbia College one of America's best colleges for the fifth year in a row and in the top tier of America's best colleges. Princeton Review also singled out Columbia College as one of the best colleges in the Midwest in 2009, one of only 159 schools in a 12-state region to receive a "Best Midwestern College" designation. Columbia College's Online Campus, founded nine years ago, has grown dramatically in prestige, quality and enrollment. During spring semester 2009 alone, more than 13,000 students, many working adults and military servicemembers, were enrolled.
