Academic resources and facilities

To enrich the learning experience, Columbia College offers the following resources and facilities:

Career Services Center

The Career Center offers students and alumni a broad range of services, resources and programs designed to prepare them to successfully achieve their personal and career objectives.

Writing Center

The Writing Center provides free individual assistance and tutorials to students working on papers assigned in any course taught on the home campus (Not applicable to online courses). Its professional staff can help students with their class work by working with students on a one-to-one basis or in small groups.

Tutoring Across the Curriculum

Tutoring Across the Curriculum offers free assistance on a walk-in basis for a variety of classes, such as anthropology, biology, business courses, chemistry, history, physics, political science, and psychology.

Mathematics Center

The Mathematics Center provides academic tutoring services for students enrolled in a 100- or 200-level math course, from Beginning Algebra to Calculus II and Statistics I. These services are provided free of charge to students enrolled for credit in a course at the Columbia College home campus and are not available to students taking online courses.

Fishman Center for Entrepreneurship

Through experiential learning based on curriculum, internships, mentoring, and seed capital for start-ups, the Steven and Barbara Fishman Center for Entrepreneurship assists Columbia College students and faculty by identifying and securing resources to create new businesses or improve existing ones.

Technology Services Help Desk

The computer help desk supports the campus in computer and network use. It provides a single point of contact for questions concerning telephone service, e-mail and connecting computers to the campus network.

Computer lab

The computer lab offers access to computers, network and software technology to individual students. It is also the home of the college's computer help-desk operation.

Individual academic advising

Full-time academic advisors will create a personally relevant plan for educational, career, and life fulfillment. Students are encouraged to contact the Evening Campus office to set up an advising appointments. Walk-in advising is available but appointments often save the student time in case the advisors are busy at the time of the walk-in.

Stafford Library

The library's collection of materials supports the curriculum of Columbia College with over 80,000 items (books, videos, CDs, etc.) and more than 600 magazine, journal, and newspaper titles in paper and on microfilm. Arthur, the library's catalog, is available on the Internet. The library classroom is used for group study and library instruction.

Multiple online databases are available to search for full-text or indexed articles from professional journals, legal publications, newspapers and magazines. Students are able to access the databases from off campus by using Columbia College's proxy server. Library Web site
