Music

Four singers performing

Class projects are great.

Performing to packed houses is greater.

That’s just what music students at Columbia College have the opportunity to experience each year, with concerts in the local community and on international tours in countries like England, Italy, Australia and China. This helps to prepare our students to perform at the professional level and successfully compete in their chosen professional fields.

In addition, you can successfully combine your music major with directed minors in areas like business, religious studies and education, helping you to maximize career opportunities while enjoying the best of a well-rounded liberal arts education.

Global Performance Opportunities

Members of the choral ensembles at Columbia College travel extensively, entertaining across the country and around the world. In the new millennium alone, groups have performed at New York City’s Carnegie Hall (2001), sang their way through Scotland and England, where they led services at Canterbury Cathedral (2003), were part of an American delegation to the All-China Choral Directors Conference (2007), performed in Austria with the Columbia Civic Orchestra (2009), and on their tour through Italy (2011), led Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica. Most recently, the group performed, by special invitation, George Frederic Handel’s Messiah in Dublin, Ireland, and London, England (2013).
