Experience Japanese culture at USP, which is located in the environmentally conscious community of Hikone in Shiga Prefecture. USP is located on the shores of beautiful Lake Biwa, Japan’s largest freshwater lake,. The educational emphasis of the 2,600 student campus is on environment and human life. English language courses are available in environmental science, history and philosophy as well as Japanese culture and religion. Students can also study Japanese language at all levels.
Since fall semester in Japan overlaps with our spring semester, it is suggested that students study in Japan during their spring semester (April – June). Students may also study in a three-week intensive language and culture summer term. Although courses are offered in English, we suggest taking a course in elementary Japanese before going to Japan, if possible.
