Melissa Picket received an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN, 1991) from St. Mary’s College of O’Fallon/St. Charles County Community College. She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN, 2005) and Masters of Science in Nursing (MSn, 2009) from the University of Missouri, Sinclair School of Nursing, (UMC, SSON). She is also board certified as an Adult Clinical Nurse Specialist (ACNS-BC).

Melissa has over 30 years of experience in healthcare, 10 of those years of practice as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN). Her experience in the role of an ACNS-BC includes primary care with medication management and wound care to adult and geriatric populations in the Hospital, Long term Care, Assisted Living Care, and clinic settings. Her expertise as an ostomy consultant extended her nursing care and experience into the neonatal intensive care unit, pediatric in patient and out patient settings. She continues to practice nursing on the psychiatric unit at St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City, Missouri.

Melissa’s experience in teaching includes certified nurse assistant training, certified medication assistant training, insulin administration training, licensed practical nurse program, Geriatrics for the Accelerated Nursing Program at the University of MO. She has provided in-service training to nursing staff in Long term care and Assisted Living facilities and has provided many lectures for the UMC, SSON and the University Hospital licensed nursing staff and residents.
