Dr. Joyce Gentry received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Truman State University (formerly Northeast Missouri State University), and her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Missouri Sinclair School of Nursing. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Missouri College of Education in educational, school, and counseling psychology.

As a Registered Professional Nurse, Dr. Gentry has experience in medical surgical specialties such as general surgery, trauma and oncology. She has worked in acute care settings, intensive care units and in medical oncology research.

She has more than 25 years of teaching experience, is tenured faculty, and has been employed with Columbia College for 15 years. Joyce has experience in course development and teaches in the ASN, BSN, and the RN to BSN online program. Dr. Gentry was promoted to Professor in 2017.
