Dr. Mohamed Aturban received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Tripoli, Libya, and a Master of Science from New Mexico State University in 2011. Dr. Aturban received his doctorate degree in Computer Science from Old Dominion University in 2020.

Before joining Columbia College in the Fall of 2020, he was involved in teaching a wide range of computer science courses. Besides his teaching experience, he has led research efforts in the fields of web archiving and cybersecurity at Old Dominion University. His collaboration with Los Alamos National Lab has led to several approaches for disseminating web pages to public web archives and verifying archived web pages' fixity. The work has also led to the development of ArchiveNow (Best Poster Award at JCDL 2018) that helps to preserve web pages in multiple web archives.
