New director appointed at Columbia College of Missouri-Crystal Lake

(CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill.)-Melissa Stutz has been selected as the director of Columbia College of Missouri-Crystal Lake.

In her new position, Stutz will be responsible for all day-to-day operations of the Crystal Lake campus, including student and faculty recruitment and retention, and class scheduling. She began her duties Sept. 5.

Prior to joining Columbia College, Stutz worked at McHenry County College for seven years where she served in many capacities, including interim director of continuing education and director of University Center. She also was an adjunct instructor of speech and the college experience.

Among Stutz’s accomplishments at McHenry County College was the design and planning of the college’s first satellite facility - McHenry County College at University Center. It is a 14,000-square-foot facility that houses continuing professional education and community programs.

She earned a master's degree in human resource development from Webster University in St. Louis and a bachelor's degree in communication broadcast from the University of Texas, Arlington, Texas. Stutz also is enrolled in a doctoral program in higher education leadership at Northcentral University in Prescott, Ariz.

"Melissa's wealth of talent and experience, particularly in the areas of education administration and management, will be an immense benefit to Columbia College-Crystal Lake," said Mike Randerson, vice president for Adult Higher Education. "We are pleased to welcome her as part of our team."

Columbia College-Crystal Lake was founded in 1989 at McHenry County College. Today, it continues to serve working adults and military students in the area.

Columbia College provides accredited, affordable degrees for working adults and military students, serving nearly 25,000 students at its 32 Nationwide Campuses, Online Campus, Graduate Studies Program and Day Campus.
