Columbia College-Hancock Field to hold reception and commencement during 30-year anniversary celebration weekend

(Syracuse, N.Y.) - Columbia College-Hancock Field is celebrating 30 years of meeting the higher education needs of civilians, military personnel and their families in Syracuse and surrounding communities. As part of the celebration, the campus will hold an anniversary reception and its 30th commencement ceremony.

A 30-year anniversary reception will be held from 7-10 p.m. Friday, May 12 at the Wyndham Syracuse Hotel Grand Ballroom, 6301 Route 298, East Syracuse, N.Y.

At a commencement ceremony at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 14 at the OnCenter, 800 South State St., Syracuse, the campus will confer 20 associate, 88 bachelorís and 24 masterís degrees. Dr. Gerald Brouder, Columbia College president, will be the featured speaker.

Founded in 1975, Columbia College-Hancock Field continues to operate from its original location at Hancock Field, home of the New York Air National Guard 174tth Fighter Wing.

"It is remarkable to see the changes that have taken place at Columbia College-Hancock Field during the last 30 years," said Campus Director William Dardis. "Our focus always has been on quality education for working adults. We thank everyone who has been a part of helping us advance the lives of adult learners."

Columbia College-Hancock Field offers associate and bachelorís degrees in business administration, criminal justice administration, history, psychology, political science, computer information systems and general/interdisciplinary studies, plus masterís degrees in business administration and criminal justice administration. The campus also offers more than 350 online classes, as well as complete online degrees.

Columbia College was founded in Columbia, Mo., in 1851. The college serves nearly 25,000 students annually at its Day Campus, Evening Campus, Graduate Program, Online Campus and more than 30 Nationwide Campuses.
