International Coffee Hour
Columbia College is committed to internationalizing its campus.
More than 70 faculty, staff and students attended International Coffee Hour on Sept. 5. “The turnout was awesome,” says Britta Wright, Director of International Student Services. “I was excited by the mix of faculty, staff, and students engaging in conversation over coffee and refreshments.”
Co-sponsored by English as a Second/Other Language (ESOL) and International Student Services, International Coffee Hour is a casual social gathering for international students to interact with faculty, staff, and other students at the College. “Chatting with members of the campus community over a cup of coffee is not only an educational opportunity for international students but a cultural and social one as well,” says Miranda E. Wilkerson, Assistant Professor and Coordinator of ESOL. “Really, it’s a win-win for everyone involved. International students raise awareness of cultural and linguistic diversity among our domestic students.”
Be sure to drop in for some titillating conversation and refreshments at the next International Coffee Hour on Wednesday, Nov. 7 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the Cougar Room.
