Commencement Regalia Policy

Scope

This policy applies to all students at Columbia College.

Policy

All students wishing to participate in a main campus or nationwide ceremony must order their cap and gown through the Herff Jones website. Students are responsible for the cost of their cap and gown. Students will be given the option to have their regalia shipped directly to them or to the campus location where the ceremony will be held.
  • Main campus ceremonies: Students can pick up their regalia at the Campus Bookstore approximately two weeks prior to commencement. Students who wish to have their regalia shipped to them are responsible for the postage costs.
  • Nationwide ceremonies: Students can pick up their regalia at the host location the week of the commencement or during check-in the day of ceremony.

Please note that graduates must wear the cap and gown as their outer wear to participate in ceremonies. You may decorate your cap as long as the decoration does not extend past the mortarboard. You may not decorate your gown in any way. Only honors cords and approved stoles may be worn over your gown. Only regalia and Columbia College recognized honors society adornments may be worn during the ceremony.

Students who do not wish to participate in ceremony can order regalia through the Herff Jones website and have it shipped to themselves. The student is responsible for the cost of the regalia.
