Why did you choose Columbia College?
I chose Columbia College because it was local, offered the degree program I wanted (Psychology!), and it gave me the option of working on my degree online without having to worry about evening classes or commuting a long distance to go to class, but still gave me the ability to get a quality education. Choosing Columbia College also made it much easier for me to have a more "normal" college experience, as I was still able to go to the home campus to get my student ID, and I was able to use the Moberly campus branch to have my midterm and final tests proctored.
What are your plans for the future?
I plan to go on to graduate school, and work on a Master's degree in Psychology. From there, I either want to go into counseling or teaching college courses.
What was your favorite course, and why?
I had two, really. One was my final Research Design course, which is now known as "Integrative Psychology." It was a culmination of everything that I learned over my student career at Columbia College, and reviewing everything with the mindset that I've gained over the years of studying really helped me learn how to apply all my new knowledge to the real world.
My other favorite course was Science Fiction and Fantasy, one that I took for my English minor. It was a lot of fun, very creative, and exposed me to a lot of books that I might not have otherwise considered reading, such as Isaac Asimov's "I, Robot" which was completely different from what I had expected.
Is there anyone you would like to thank?
I want to thank the three people that supported and encouraged me the most through all of this: James, Jennifer, and my son Declan. They are most definitely the most important people in my life, and they are always there. Thank you sooooo much!
