Why did you choose Columbia College?
I chose Columbia College because from the day that I requested information, I was always made to feel as if I were valued as a student of the school. The staff at the Hunter Army Airfield location are all amazing people, and they did their best to provide me with the support and guidance that I needed to be successful. The first time that I made the Dean's List, the staff not only emailed me, but they called me personally to congratulate me. From this point on, I knew that I'd made the right choice in choosing Columbia College to further my education.

What are your plans for the future?
Since completing my degree requirements, I have been accepted into Liberty University's MA in Professional Counseling program. Once those requirements are met and I've gained my degree, I plan on seeking licensure as a professional counselor.

What was your favorite course, and why?
I actually had a few favorite courses, but the three that I seemed to enjoy the most were Integrative Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, and Religion 101. I loved Integrative Psychology for the exact reason that the title implies; it was integrative. It was great being able to have all that I'd learned, in terms of psychology, combined into one course. It was a great refresher, and I feel that I really gained a lot from that class. I loved Cognitive Psychology because cognition intrigues me, of course, but also because of Dr. Ryabchenko's teaching methods. I was able to retain so much of the information that I took in and really be able to enjoy the class. The religion course was a favorite of mine because it opened my eyes to the many different religions of the world. In gaining a greater understanding and appreciation of the religious practices of others, I feel that I also gained a greater understanding and appreciation of my own religion. This course made me realize just how similar many of the religions are. This, in itself, made the course rewarding for me.

Is there anyone you would like to thank?
I would like to thank God for giving me the strength to persevere and make it to this milestone in my educational goals! Without Him, I wouldn't have been able to endure those long nights of studying and writing term papers. I would like to thank my parents, my siblings, and all of my family and friends for their continued support in helping me to succeed. Finally, I would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Karen Ryabchenko for, not only seeing that I was successful in the two courses that I took with her, but for also being a listening ear when I was going through hard times. She gave me great advice that really pushed me to continue on when I couldn't see the light in the darkest moment of my life. With her helping words, I regained my motivation, and I'm now graduating with honors!
