Course Objectives
  • To interpret the geology of an area.
  • To identify rocks and minerals.
    Measurable Learning Outcomes:
  • Describe the composition of the Earth.
  • Describe how geologic features of the Earth are formed.
  • Evaluate degradational changes in the Earth’s surface.
  • Describe the geology of an area based on landscape, topographic map or geologic map.
  • Identify minerals and rocks.

  • Mineral identification and description
  • Rock identification and description
  • Chemical and physical weathering
  • Erosion and landscape weathering
  • Topographic map construction and reading
  • Stereographic photo analysis
  • Dating and fossils
