Each week will have 2 discussion topics/questions to answer. Discussion topics will become available Monday and all work must be completed by Sunday. You must post your original response to the Discussion prompts by 11:59 pm CT Thursday. You must then provide substantive responses to at least two classmates’ initial posts within each Discussion topic by 11:59 pm CT Sunday, except in Week 8, where they are due Saturday.
Discussion posts (initial) should be complete, clear, and a minimum of 100 words. Replies to other students should address the posted subject, and be at least 1 paragraph in length (50 words). A grading rubric will be provided. Discussion (with the exception of Introductions topic) are worth 10 points each.
Research Question/Paper Topic
You will propose a research question to be the subject of a Research Paper due in Week 7 of the course. You will use the table of contents in the textbook or appropriate online resources, and think about questions you have about human sexuality to choose your question/topic.
You will be required to cite one peer-reviewed journal article or book that explores the question at the time you propose the topic.
The research question/topic must be submitted in a 3-page paper that includes a title page, a page of essay text with at least one citation, and a reference page with one reference. The paper must be formatted in APA or ASA style, 12 point Times New Roman font. You will submit the paper to the appropriate dropbox by 11:59 pm CT Sunday of Week 2. You may not use work completed in part or whole from another course or institution. The Paper will be worth 20 points.
Article Review Assignment
You will submit a brief APA/ASA paper in Week 3. The paper should be brief (3 pages), in APA/ASA style. You should include a title page, a brief essay with at least one in-text citation, and a reference page with one reference. The Article Review Assignment will require you to identify one book or journal article that you will use in your Research Paper.
The body of the Article Review Assignment should summarize the relevant content of the article to review the topic you’ve chosen for the Research Paper. The Article Review Assignment should be submitted to the appropriate dropbox by 11:59 pm CT Sunday of Week 3. It will be worth 20 points.
You will submit an abstract for your Research Paper in Week 4. The Abstract should be a concise summary (150-250 words) of the key points of research. It should contain the research topic, questions, analysis, and the conclusion(s). The Abstract should be written and formatted in APA or ASA style. Once complete, it should be submitted to the appropriate dropbox by 11:59 pm CT Sunday of Week 4. It is worth 20 points.
You will complete an annotated bibliography in Week 6. The Annotated Bibliography should contain at least three references from books or peer-reviewed journal articles. The Annotated Bibliography should be submitted to the appropriate dropbox by 11:59 pm CT Sunday of Week 5. It will be worth 20 points.
Peer Review/Writer’s Workshop
You will submit a draft Research Paper for peer review in Week 6. You must provide substantive feedback to at least two classmate’s papers, identifying at least one positive quality in each of the papers and one area that needs improvement. You will be given prompts to help guide your review.
Papers must be submitted to the Peer Review Discussion for review by 11:59 pm CT Thursday. All reviews must be completed by 11:59 pm CT Sunday of Week 6. The Writer’s Workshop activity is worth 20 points.
Final Research Paper
The final Research paper will be due at 11:59 pm CT Sunday of Week 7. The Research Paper must be 6 pages long and include a title page, abstract, and reference page. It should be formatted in APA or ASA style, double-spaced, with 12 point Times New Roman font used throughout. Papers that vary in format will lose points. A rubric and grading criteria will be provided in the Content area. The final Research Paper is worth 125 points.
There will be weekly Quizzes in Weeks 1-7. Quizzes will be available beginning 12:01 am CT Monday and be due at 11:59 pm CT Sunday of the same week. Quizzes will cover material covered in the assigned readings. Quizzes will be comprised of 20 multiple-choice questions. You will have one timed attempt at each quiz. You will have a time limit of 60 minutes (with a 5 minute grace period). Each quiz is worth 20 points.
The Final Exam will be proctored. Proctor information will be due at 11:59 pm CT Sunday of Week 2. The Final Exam will be cumulative, covering material from all chapters covered in the course. The Final Exam will consist of 90 multiple-choice or true/false questions (2 points each), and 2 essay questions (10 points each) and is worth 200 points. You have 120 minutes to complete the Final Exam. The Final Exam opens at 12:01 am CT Tuesday of Week 8 and must be completed by 11:59 pm CT Saturday of Week 8.
