Students graduate from Summer Expeditions program at Columbia College June 25
WHO: Fourth and fifth grade students from Columbia Public Schools who participated in the Summer Expeditions program at Columbia College; Sharon Abernathy, director of financial aid; Dr. Chris Belcher, superintendent, Columbia Public Schools; Marsha Knudsen, Summer Expeditions coordinator; Nollie Moore, instructor of music and director of the Jane Froman Singers; and Dr. Terry Smith, executive vice president and dean for academic affairs.
WHAT: A graduation ceremony where students and parents will be welcomed by Knudsen and listen to a session on college affordability by Abernathy. Students will perform "Graduation Song" led by Moore, listen to remarks by Belcher and receive certificates from Smith. Columbia College partnered with Columbia Public Schools to offer an exciting array of hands-on activities to motivate students to pursue higher education through a weeklong program called Summer Expeditions. Each day students were bussed to the college, fed lunch, treated to a different activity and given an overview of college life. This graduation ceremony concludes the week's activities.
