Columbia College launches bachelor of nursing degree program
After more than 25 years of providing quality nurses for the mid-Missouri area, Columbia College is pleased to announce the launch of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program. Linda Claycomb, Chair of the Columbia College nursing department, believes offering the BSN is a game-changer for the already established registered nursing (RN) program. “This is a tremendous opportunity to take the Columbia College nursing program to the next level,” said Claycomb. “We are responding to the needs of the health care industry. Registered nurses can sign up for the program immediately and we are looking forward to classes starting on August 18.”
Courses in the program are designed to enhance complex clinical reasoning, decision-making and collaborative skills, contributing to patient safety and quality processes. Graduates will be prepared to assume advanced roles in nursing management.
The fully online program allows students to earn their degree while they work as an RN. With five class sessions each year, students can earn their degree just as quickly as students attending college full-time. Each class lasts eight weeks with sessions offered every August, October, January, March and June. Students must have completed an associate degree in nursing and successfully completed the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses.
