The pitch: The Preparation
What happens if my idea, or my team’s idea gets selected?
If your idea is selected, the Fishman Center will schedule a time to meet you or your team in early May. The Center will provide you with a business plan development template and any necessary additional resources in order to assist in getting ready for the Preliminary Pitch Competition in August 2018. In addition, competitors will be paired with a coach to help guide them along as they develop their business plan. A 14-week write/rewrite schedule with coach feedback throughout the process, will ensure students create a well-developed business plan. The seven (7) top contenders in the Preliminary Pitch Competition, which will be judged by our coaches, will win the right to participate in The pitch: The Competition in October. Competitors will receive feedback from their preliminary pitch and with that information, they can use the time between August and October to fine-tune their plan and their pitch. Our goal is to assist you in preparation so that you can deliver your strongest pitch during the preliminary competition—and win your right to pitch for the money in October!
Who will evaluate the 7 selected idea(s) for The pitch: The Competition?
A panel of external judges, all business professionals, will evaluate the 7 selected ideas on October 12, 2018
How much time you decide to spend on developing your idea is up to you. Just remember that turning great ideas into a viable business strategy requires time, effort, and energy. During preparation for the competition, deadlines will be provided for different aspects of the pitch. It is essential that you meet the deadlines provided. Our expectation is that you take this process seriously.
