About Campus Safety
The mission of the Director of Campus Safety at Columbia College is to provide a safe and secure environment in which college community members can study, work and live.
To fulfill this mission the college provides 24/7 security services through the Office of Safety and Security. Using a combination of foot and vehicle patrols throughout all shifts, safety officers are continuously visible on campus as a deterrent to crime. Although our officers are non-commissioned, they are responsible for maintaining a safe campus. Specific responsibilities include after dark patrol, safety education programs, liaison with law enforcement agencies and building mechanical checks.
The Director of Campus Safety is Bob Klausmeyer. His office is located in Wightman 102, and he may be reached at 875-7304. Any safety and security concerns or related issues may be referred to him at any time.
His responsibilities include overseeing all safety and security issues on campus, planning safety and crisis management, ensuring reliable security services and acting as the liaison for all safety and security matters within the campus community. In addition, he serves as the liaison with local law enforcement agencies concerning security incidents.
Student Right-to-Know and Campus Security Act
(Public Law 101-542)
It is unfortunate that criminal activity occurs on college campuses. The student Right-To-Know and Campus Security Act requires campuses nationwide to investigate and make public the nature of crimes, the quantity and how they are investigated.
