Atkins-Holman Student Commons

Atkins-Holman Student Commons building Constructed in 2004, Atkins-Holman Student Commons provides students with a convenient place to study, grab a snack or a cup of coffee, or take a break from studies with a game of pool.The two-story building also houses campus life offices, a recreation room, the campus bookstore, study lounges, student health services, a Starbucks coffee shop and the Cougar Café.

The McQuinns
Mary Agnes McQuinn, a 1954 graduate of Christian College, and her husband, Al.

The building is named for the parents of Tom and Linda (Holman '54) Atkins. The Atkins contributed a lead gift of $600,000 to the project. Tom Atkins is a trustee emeritus of the college.

Mary Agnes Starr McQuinn, class of 1954, with her husband, Al McQuinn, challenged Columbia College alumni and friends with a $300,000 dollar for dollar match.

The McQuinns live in Minnesota where Mary Agnes has been involved in child rearing, volunteer commitments and, more recently, with grandchildren. She is a regular contributor to the College.

Atkins-Holman Student Commons Groundbreaking
Columbia College breaks ground on the new Atkins-Holman Student Commons.
She made a leadership level gift to the George Ann and Sidney Larson Scholarship campaign, noting that, while in Columbia in the early 1950s, she helped the Larson family as a babysitter. Mary Agnes met her husband, Al, while attending Columbia (Christian) and residing in St. Clair Hall.
