Wellness Floor

Columbia College welcomed its first Wellness Floor in the spring of 1998. The floor was created by students that wanted to live with other students that were committed to living a smoke-, alcohol-, and drug-free lifestyle.

Today, the Wellness Floor is housed in Banks Hall and is open to male and female students. At the beginning of each semester, students on the floor sign a contract pledging to remain substance free while in the building and on the floor. The students, with the assistance of their Resident Assistant, decide how the floor will operate, including the types of programs and activities that will be offered. The Director of the Wellness Center works closely with this floor and is a resource for specialized activities that floor members might want to organize.

Students who choose to live on the Wellness Floor report that their living experience is conducive to their lifestyle and offers them the opportunity to be around other students that share some of their same commitments and interests.
