New director at Columbia College-Orlando

(Columbia, Mo.) - Dr. Alan Hilliard is the new director of Columbia College-Orlando. In his new position, Hilliard is responsible for all day-to-day operations of the Orlando campus, including class scheduling and student and faculty recruitment and retention.

Hilliard comes to the director position with extensive experience in management and higher education. He has been a high school administrator for more than 20 years, having served in such capacities as coordinator, assistant principal, principal and director. Before joining Columbia College, Hilliard was assistant principal for Gateway High School in Osceola County, Fla. He also served as an adjunct instructor for a variety of colleges in the area, teaching undergraduate math, teacher certification courses and graduate courses in business administration and educational administration.

Hilliard holds a bachelor's degree from Heidelberg College, a master's degree from the State University of New York, an advanced certificate of study degree from the State University of New York and a doctorate degree in educational administration from Rutgers University.

Columbia College-Orlando is one of the college’s 34 nationwide campuses, including 17 on military bases. The Orlando campus was established in 1975 as part of the Orlando Naval Training Center. The campus later moved to its current location in 1999 when the Naval Training Center closed.
