Columbia College’s alumni magazine wins two Marcom awards
COLUMBIA, Mo., Nov. 13 - Columbia College is pleased to announce that Affinity, the college’s alumni magazine, has won two Marcom awards:
• 2013 Platinum Award for writing/feature article. Platinum is the most prestigious Marcom award, granted to only about 19 percent of all entries, and was awarded to Affinity for its look at Dr. Gerald Brouder’s indelible legacy as president. There were approximately 6,500 entries from across the U.S. and Canada.
• 2013 Gold Award for magazine/educational institution. Affinity received this honor, which was granted to about 22 percent of all entries, for the spring 2013 edition. The Marcom awards are administered by the Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals.
“We are honored to be recognized with these awards,” said Susan Davis, senior director of Alumni Relations. “With informative content and a familiar style, the magazine helps alumni across the country stay connected and engaged. We look forward to creating more award-winning issues in the future.”
The cover of the spring 2013 edition of Affinity featured Dr. and Mrs. Gerald Brouder holding hands on the steps of St. Clair Hall, symbolizing the beginning of a new journey for the college’s iconic president, who announced his retirement earlier in the year. The main feature of the magazine looked at Brouder’s legacy and how he helped establish the college as a national model institution, particularly in the areas of online and adult education.
The magazine is a joint effort between the Alumni Relations and Public Relations departments. It is produced twice a year. To view issues of affinity, visit the Alumni Relations website at www.columbiacollegealumni.org/en/CCForYou/Affinity%20Magazine.aspx.
