Columbia College of Missouri seeks an experienced, highly self-motivated, organized individual with advanced computer skills for the position of Academic Advisor at the Jacksonville Metro-campus. The position involves working primarily with nontraditional students in the role of an academic advisor to undergraduate students. In this role, the successful candidate performs integrated academic advisement and consultation of current and former students and also tracks and communicates with prospective students. The candidate also maintains appropriate student records, screens applications, and assesses transcripts to develop unofficial academic evaluations of traditional and nontraditional course credit. In addition, the incumbent coordinates or performs duties associated with the day-to-day operation of the campus, such as assisting with the administrative functions, participating in recruiting operations, preparing and presenting briefings to a variety of audiences, developing various reports and projects, organizing graduation and other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree, Master Degree preferred, from a regionally accredited college or university and one year of work experience in a position that requires related skills and abilities. Qualified applicants must possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Applicants must demonstrate an excellent working knowledge of computers, to include proficiency in Microsoft applications. The incumbent must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The ability to multi-task is essential. Preferred qualifications include academic advising experience, advanced computer skills, database management skills, highly motivated, team player attitude and experience in higher education, related to academic advising.
