Columbia College-Rolla to hold commencement March 31

Columbia College-Rolla will recognize graduates at a commencement ceremony on Saturday, March 31, at 2 p.m. at the Christian Life Center in Rolla, Mo.

John Butz, city administrator for Rolla, will give the commencement address. Ramona McAfee, assistant dean for military and federal programs for Columbia College, will confer the degrees. Dottie Taylor ’05, ’09 will provide the alumni charge.

“Commencement is the perfect time to recognize the commitment and dedication of our students," said McAfee. "The road to higher education is not easy, and we are proud to honor their accomplishments."

Established in 1992, Columbia College-Rolla was originally an extension of Columbia College-Fort Leonard Wood. In 1996, due to enrollment growth, Columbia College-Rolla was established as a separate campus.

In September 2011, Columbia College-Rolla received a substantial gift from Springfield, Mo.-based philanthropist, Jim D. Morris. Morris made a donation of property with a building he owned in Rolla West, which will be used for a new Columbia College-Rolla campus. The building will include additional classroom space and a science laboratory. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be announced later this year.

Columbia College-Rolla offers six associate degrees, 11 bachelor’s degrees and one master’s degree program on campus as well as 23 associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees online.
