Columbia College lights up campus

WHAT: The 14th Annual Holiday Lighting Ceremony. Columbia College will illuminate more than 4,500 white lights along the exterior of the Columbia College campus.

WHO: President Gerald Brouder will provide welcoming comments, Student Government Association President Courtney Lauer-Myers will lead the countdown and the Jane Froman Singers will be dressed in Dickens-era costumes singing Christmas carols.

WHEN: 4:45 p.m., Friday, Dec. 3

WHERE: Bass Commons on the Columbia College campus. Note: Bass Commons is the lawn in front of St. Clair Hall on the corner of 10th and Rogers streets. Media should meet near the campus map. Parking is available in the lot directly south of Bass Commons.

HISTORY: The holiday lights were the brainchild of Bonnie Brouder, wife of President Brouder, who came up with the idea in 1995. President Gerald Brouder was happy to go along with the idea. �The lights are a way for Columbia College to provide holiday cheer to those who live, work, visit or pass by campus throughout the season,� Brouder says.
