Columbia College-Rolla to hold commencement April 17
Thursday, April 22, 2010

Columbia College will confer undergraduate degrees at the Rolla campus commencement ceremony on Saturday, April 17. The ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. at the Christian Life Center, Rolla, Mo.

Dr. Sean Siebert, assistant professor in business administration, will give the commencement address. Rene' Massey, associate dean for adult higher education, will confer the degrees.

"Our campus has grown substantially in the last two years, and we decided it was time to celebrate locally," said Dr. Greg Stratman, director of Columbia College-Rolla. "The graduates are excited about the opportunity to share this significant moment in their lives with friends and family, and a local ceremony makes that possible."

Columbia College, a private, nonprofit institution, was founded in Missouri in 1851 as Christian Female College, the first women's college west of the Mississippi River to be chartered by a state legislature. The college changed its name to Columbia College in 1970 when it became coeducational.

Established in 1992, Columbia College-Rolla was originally an extension of Columbia College-Fort Leonard Wood. Located on the Metro Business College campus, the college later moved to its present location on North Bishop in 1995 when enrollments outpaced available space.

Today, Columbia College-Rolla continues to serve civilian and military adult learners in the area.

Columbia College in Columbia, Mo., educates more than 26,000 students each year and has more than 64,000 alumni worldwide. For more information, visit
