(COLUMBIA, Mo.) -- The public is invited to attend an open house at the new facility of Columbia College-Crystal Lake from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at 446 N. Rte. 31 in Crystal Lake, Ill. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 10 a.m.
Columbia College-Crystal Lake was established in 1989 at McHenry County College, and in 2000, moved to the University Center near downtown Crystal Lake. The campus relocated to its current home at 446 N. Rte. 31 earlier this year.
Columbia College, founded in Missouri in 1851 as Christian Female College, was the first women’s college west of the Mississippi River to be chartered by a state legislature. The college changed its name to Columbia College in 1970 when it became coeducational. Today, the college educates 25,000 students worldwide through its 33 Nationwide Campuses, Day Campus, Online Campus and Graduate Studies program.
