Monday, May 14, 2007

Columbia College will confer 131 associate and bachelor's degrees upon graduates at a commencement ceremony at 6 p.m., Friday, May 18 at the All Saints Chapel, 750 Birmingham Road at Naval Air Station (NAS) Jacksonville. Graduates from the two Jacksonville campuses as well as from the campuses at Hunter Army Airfield and Fort Stewart in Georgia will be participating in the ceremony.

Columbia College President Dr. Gerald Brouder will be conferring degrees and giving the commencement address.

"For Columbia College graduates, the commencement ceremony is the culmination of their hard work and dedication to improving their lives," Brouder said. "We are proud to celebrate the accomplishments of each graduate on this special day."

Columbia College, founded in Missouri in 1851 as Christian Female College, was the first women's college west of the Mississippi River to be chartered by a state legislature. The college changed its name to Columbia College in 1970 when it became coeducational and has since extended its campus across the country.

Columbia College provides accredited, affordable on-campus and online degrees, serving nearly 25,000 students each year through its 32 Nationwide Campuses, Online Campus, Evening Campus, Day Campus and Graduate Studies Program.
