Thursday, September 28, 2006

[Columbia, Mo.]-Gary Stanowski has joined Columbia College as the deputy chief information officer and director of technology services.

"I am pleased to have Gary on the technology services team," said Kevin Palmer, chief information officer. "He will be responsible for three strategic areas within Technology Services that include the network department, along with the end-user technology department, as well as a new technology services center and help desk department."

In addition to his daily responsibilities, as deputy CIO, Stanowski will serve the college’s technology interests when the CIO is unavailable, Palmer said.

"Gary's responsibilities and the experience he brings to the work environment will assist technology services in focusing on customer service and ensuring that we 'delight' our customer base," Palmer said.

Stanowski has 20 years experience supporting technology in academic and office environments, as well as six years management experience. He served the Francis Howell School District for nine years, most recently as interim chief information officer and technical services manager.

Stanowski earned a bachelor's degree in information systems from Lindenwood University in St. Louis. He began pursuit of a Master of Business Administration at Lindenwood and will transfer to Columbia College.

Columbia College serves nearly 25,000 students each year at its Day Campus, Evening Campus, Nationwide Campuses, Online Campus and Graduate Studies Program.

The college was founded in 1851 as Christian Female College and was renamed Columbia College in 1970 when it became coeducational.
