As director of the Whidbey Island, Wash., campus, MarJean Knokey's focus is to help students achieve their professional and personal goals through higher education.
"My greatest joy as director of the campus is seeing the pride in family members' faces as students march down the aisle at graduation," she said. "The students have accomplished a milestone and everyone in the room knows it."
Directors at the home campus in Columbia, Mo., recognized Knokey's accomplishments on Sept. 13 with the Frazier Moon Administrator of the Year Award. The award recognizes Columbia College directors who exemplify the virtues of the late Frazier Moon, a former Columbia College dean who played a significant role in the advancement of adult higher education.
"I immediately called my office to thank my staff for their outstanding work," she said. "We will try very hard to live up to the spirit of this award in every aspect of daily tasks."
Knokey has served as director of the Whidbey Island campus for four years. She began her career at the college as associate director.
