Columbia College-Denver celebrates new location in Centennial

Due to its recent move from Aurora to the Denver Tech Center in Centennial, Columbia College-Denver hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday, Nov. 28, at 10:30 a.m. Members of the South Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce and the Centennial mayor were on hand for the ceremony.

"We are proud to re-invest in the Denver community," said Andye Wolff-Yakubovich, director of Columbia College of Missouri-Denver. "Our new location in the Denver Tech Center allows us to provide state-of-the-art technology and additional educational resources to our students, which will better equip them to pursue today’s top jobs.”

Columbia College President, Dr. Gerald Brouder, provided remarks at the ceremony along with Wolff-Yakubovich, and John Brackney, president of the South Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce. Given the strong online presence of Columbia College, the college offered an online class demonstration at the conclusion of the ceremony.

Established in Denver in 1975, the campus moved to Aurora in 1979 after enrollments outpaced available space. In its formative years, the campus served active-duty military personnel at Lowry Air Force Base, Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center, retired military and corporate students from major companies in the area. Today, it continues to serve military and civilian adult learners in the Denver area.

Founded in 1851 in Columbia, Mo., Columbia College has been helping students advance their lives through higher education for more than 160 years. As a private, nonprofit, liberal arts and sciences institution, the college takes pride in its small classes, experienced faculty and quality educational programs. With more than 30 campuses across the country, 18 of which are on military installations, students may enroll in day, evening or online classes. The college is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Columbia College educates more than 30,000 students each year and has more than 74,000 alumni worldwide. For more information, visit
