Columbia College recognized by Military Times as a military-friendly school

COLUMBIA, Mo., Nov. 11 - Columbia College was recently named to Military Times’ “Best for Vets: Colleges 2014” list. These annual rankings were based on accreditation, graduation rates, transfer credit policies, academic support and participation in the Yellow Ribbon program. This is the second year the college has received this ranking in the online and nontraditional category. Of more than 600 institutions that applied, Columbia College was one of only 120 to receive this recognition.

“We are honored to be recognized by Military Times,” said Mike Lederle, assistant dean for military and federal programs. “This recognition speaks to the level of our commitment to the men and women who serve in the armed forces and we take great pride in offering programs and policies that support their unique educational needs.”

The “Best for Vets” list was designed to provide service members with information on schools and degree programs that would be most beneficial to them. The rankings will be published in the November edition of Military Times Edge magazine.

Approximately 25 percent of Columbia College students are either service members, veterans or their dependents. Many of those affiliated with the military are enrolled throughout the Columbia College nationwide system of 35 campuses, 18 of which are located on military bases, including one in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
