Community information

We know there's more to life than studying. When you're ready to take a break from the books, you'll find plenty of recreational, cultural and sports opportunities.

Los Alamitos is a small residential suburban city nestled between Long Beach, Cypress, and Seal Beach. The Joint Forces Training Base occupies approximately half of the land of the city. The Base was built in 1941 as the Los Alamitos Naval Air Station, and it retained this title until the early 1970s.

Currently, units of the California Army and Air National Guards, the US Army, the US Army Reserve, US Air Force and US Marines are located here, in addition to several other civilian and governmental entities.

We have significantly increased the course offerings and reach a larger population at the nearby Seal Beach Weapons Station and local Community Colleges and the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department University.
