Columbia College recognizes San Diego campus director with prestigious award

Columbia College honored Diana Schriefer, director of Columbia College-San Diego, with the Frazier Moon Administrator of the Year award during an annual employee appreciation luncheon held at the main campus in Columbia, Mo.

The award recognizes nationwide campus directors who exemplify the virtues of the late Frazier Moon, a former Columbia College dean who played a significant role in the advancement of the extended studies division, now known as the Division of Adult Higher Education. “This award is so special because a representative from each major functional area of the college provides input on the selection process,” said Mike Randerson, vice president for Adult Higher Education. “Diana is an exemplary employee and very deserving of this award.”

Schriefer has worked for Columbia College in a variety of roles including academic advisor at the Guantanamo Bay campus, serving the public servants coordinator in San Diego and, most recently, director of the San Diego campus. She also has experience in sales, banking, education and human resources.

“I would not have received such a prestigious award without my wonderful staff,” said Schriefer. “I’d like to recognize their efforts as well.”

Schriefer holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Columbia College and a master’s degree in human behavior from National University in La Jolla, Calif.

Schriefer resides in San Diego with her husband, Michael, and two sons.

Columbia College-San Diego was established in 2009 to meet the higher education needs of the personnel at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, other area military installations and to serve the broader civilian community.

Columbia College-San Diego offers one associate and one bachelor’s degree program on campus as well as 23 associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees online.
